“Sustainability may be described as our responsibility to proceed in a way that will sustain life that will allow our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to live comfortably in a friendly, clean, and healthy world.”
— Thomas Jefferson Sustainability Council, 1998
More than ever, Charlottesville and Albemarle County need your support to keep sustainability a planning priority.
A vocal minority has successfully pushed the Board of Supervisors to withdraw support for key environmental programs that help promote clean air and regional cooperation. We feel this is just the first step toward undermining 30 years of progress in building a more sustainable community.
And it comes at a critical time. On September 29, 2011, Albemarle County and Charlottesville embarked on an important two-year review of our local comprehensive plans and ask your opinion on how to shape them.
In signing this petition, you support keeping sustainability a planning priority for our quality of life, environment, and future.
Sign the petition. Speak up for sustainability and help maintain our quality of life.
